It manages Entebbe International Airport (EIA) and thirteen (13) other upcountry aerodromes. CAA carries out its work in conformity with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs). The Authority now plans to recruit suitably qualified Ugandans of impeccable integrity and commitment to fill the following positions in its establishment as detailed below

JOB TITLE: Technical Officer (Trainee)
REPORTS TO: Manager Communication, Navigation & Surveillance
VACANCIES: 06
AGE: 25 years and below
REMUNERATION: CAA Salary Grade 10
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Participate in installation, commissioning and calibration of aeronautical telecommunication facilities.
• Participate in preventive and corrective maintenance of Communication Navigation & Surveillance (CNS) systems and associated equipment and to ensure that they meet the required system performance levels.
• Carry out equipment assessments, spares inventory and stock taking duties.
• Prepare and submit technical reports about the operational status of CNS equipment.
• Actively participate in the day-to-day running of the station in a 24 hour roster system.
• Be able to travel upcountry and abroad on short notice.
• The successful candidate will undergo on-job training for a period of two years
Requirements:
EDUCATION
A good University degree in Electrical (light current), Electronics, Telecommunication Engineering or Computer Software Engineering OR
A Higher National Diploma in Electrical (light current), Electronics or Telecommunication Engineering with two (2) years relevant work experience.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
• Knowledge of Solid State Electronics, Integrated Circuits (ICs), Microwaves & Radio Frequency (RF) Engineering, Signal Propagation and Antennas
• Knowledge of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) techniques and Microprocessor Applications
• Exposure in the use of modern test equipment such as Oscilloscopes, Analyzers, Power Meters, etc;
• Demonstrable computer programming skills in C/C++ and Java. Knowledge of additional programming languages such as Visual C will be an added advantage
• Knowledge and experience in managing and using operating systems (OSs) such as Microsoft OSs and Linux
• Knowledge of relational databases and software development is essential
• Must be trainable with the ability to work effectively for long hours
• Previous experience and certification in LAN/WAN technologies will be added advantage.
